Blizzcon 2014

Blizzcon is over and it has left us exited, and hungry for more. At this years Blizzcon, Blizzard announced multiple things like, “Starcraft 2 legacy of the void”, “Hearthstone: Goblins VS Gnomes”, content patch to Diablo, Heroes of storm moving to closed beta, but all that was expected. The thing that blew us away was overwatch. Overwatch is blizzards first new franchise I 17 years. It is a fast paced first person shooter, that reassemble Team fortress 2 a lot. I must say that Blizzard got some huge balls. First they made Hearthstone and took over that part of the market. Then they announced Heroes of storm, which will compete on the same market as League of legends and Dota 2, and know they are trying to take over Team fortress 2 market. Hearthstone did succeed and Blizzard is a great game developer, but they are not fighting against small studios, they are fighting Riot and Valve. Which are some the biggest studios around. I Hope they succeed, because Blizzard has made some of the best games ever, and Overwatch looks like it could become a huge success.

At Blizzcon Overwatch was playable and as all other Blizzard games it looked like a finished game. Blizzard has released a cinematic trailer for overwatch, and a gameplay trailer.

As I said before, many things happened at Blizzcon. Blizzard have not only announced their first FPS-game, Overwatch, but they have also opened the closed beta for Heroes of the Storm, they announced new expansions for both StarCraft II and their new top hit game; Heartstone. In addition, to end it all they had invited one of the biggest bands to date; Metallica.
With a set list including both fan favorites and mega hits, the concert was a huge success.

Starting with the explosive and fast paced Hit the lights from the band’s first album Kill 'Em All, followed closely by one of the bands most well known songs, with the same name as their third album; Master of puppets. This iconic mega metal hit sat the mood for the rest of concert and was, as always a roaring success.
Once again, James Hetfield showed excellent crowd control, having the audience not only singing for him, but also having them, almost religiously, chanting hey in some of the heaviest parts of the concert.

It was tough first at their probably most well know song; Enter Sandman, that it all went down. As the third to last song of their set list, and with its iconic riff’s, the bad had all of the audience in the palm, having them singing along at all times, all while mosh pits emerged throughout the audience.

Ending with their all-star end song Seek and destroy Metallica had ensured that Blizzcon will be remembered, while also acquiring a few new fans.
